A farmer of chickens and cows has a total of 30 animals with 74 legs between them. (All of the animals have the full complement of legs.) How many chickens does the farmer have?

    4(30-b)+2(b)=74
    120-4b+2b=74
    120-74=4b-2b
    2b=46
    b=23 (Chickens)

    Solve for a
    4(a)+2(30-a)=74
    4a+60-2a=74
    4a-2a=74-60
    2a=14
    a=7 (cows)
